Great Night
Oh my gosh, last night was so damn funny! So as on all Mondays, it was wing night. But, the pats were also playing so I had really nice tables for most of the evening. Crazy busy at first, but later in the night everyone was pretty much settled in and I spend a great deal of time just keeping waters full. Anyway, so first great thing that happened: I had gratuity on a table and I do not think they knew because they asked me to put the bill on a credit card and handed me $25 for a tip. Well, $25 was more than the 18% grat, so I decided to take the grat off the bill (because when we run credit cards, the receipt will say "tip" instead of "grat" , so I didn't want them to realize that they had double tipped me). However, the dumb girl still wrote in $20 on the check! So, basically I got tipped $45 on $100 (not sure if it was intentional but if you could see the table, I think it was just a mistake) but, hey, I was happy. Next thing that left me in hysterics: a table in the dining room payed people that were sitting at the rail to order wings for them and pass them down! (costumers can't do the wing deal in the dining room). I could not stop laughing at the fact that a table basically did a business transaction with customers in the pub. Third event: a guy who was kicked out last week along with the rest of his friends came back in tonight. Last week, they would not stop giving shit to the manager and the servers because one of their friends wanted to sit in the pub but only had a birth certificate and a college I.D. as proof of age. Our manager finally kicked them all out and told them never to come back so they all proceeded to spit in their chicken and on the beer menus. So, last night, it was very lovely to watch the doorman tell him to leave. All and all, I had great tips from all of my football watchers and I did not have to close for once, so I finally got to drink with Carolina (our awesome busser) for an hour after work :) Great night.

The Best Special
Last night we had the most amazing special, in my opinion, since the week we were serving scallop specials. It was linguini with blackened chicken, diced ham, peas and a light cream sauce. So freakin good. I mean, I am so sick of our food that whenever we have a good special, I am ecstatic. It is hard to believe that one could possibly tire of a menu that has over 40 choices but when you've worked there for so long, you'll accept even McDonalds over the food you serve just because its a change.

Night Off!
So I have not worked at all this week :) I gave away my Monday and Wednesday night shifts, worked 10 hours last night (which was one of the slowest nights ever) and gave away my shift tonight! Everyone wants to work, so I went over Lisa's house to drink wine. I almost went into my workaholic mode but snapped out of it. I have the rest of my life to work and my bills are paid sooooo, I am very happy that I got out of working tonight! besides, this was a dead week and starting Monday, I will be back to working 40+ hours.

Long Weekend
I am exhausted, both physically and mentally. I worked 50 hours this week at work and tried my hardest to do homework recently but was so tired that I had to sleep. Graziella just said that she would work for me tonight, which I am so grateful for. This week is going to be dead after thanksgiving so I am not going to make any money, but I do not even care. I made so much last week, probably around $24 an hour, that I do not even care to work tonight. I could probably manage to get all my homework done for my four classes but I would definitely be sacrificing my sanity. I want to not only do my homework at a leisurely pace, but relax, clean the apartment, sleep, and spend more time with my boyfriend than an hour after work before I knock out in bed.

A closer look at a pair of foolish customers
So wing night draws in groups of customers that would never think twice to visit the bar on any other day. Which is fine. I get it. You can get a whole plate of wings for only a dollar. But, it drags in some of the stupidest people that are so annoying to deal with. One such example is a pair of boys; they stride in with sunglasses on and if they're lucky enough to land a sofa seat, will throw their legs up like it's their own damn living room. I had the blessing of serving them for the first time a couple weeks ago. First, apparently as a precaution to a past experience they had had, they called me back after I had taken their order to ask me to ensure that their wings were hot. What do they think? I am going to stand back there in the kitchen and monitor the making of their wings? I conveyed this to them in a bit nicer manner, but not much. Then, they proceeded to give me shit for not giving them blue cheese on every plate of their wings. Upon explaining to them our policy about blue cheese not being served with flavors other than buffalo and that they could get extra for 50 cents, they had the audacity to ask to speak to a manager! Are you f'ing serious? You want to speak to a manager because you do not want to pay 50 cents, on top of the $1 wings and your $2 soda? I was so far from being in the mood to deal with such stupidity that I convinced Lisa, goddess if I do say so myself, to take them.
This past Monday, they waltzed in the bar with their posse, consisting of several underage boys whom Lisa told to leave. They were appalled that we would ask their friends for I.D.'s, seeing as they themselves had never been asked before. When Lisa told them that that was because they looked over 21, they asked her if that was discrimination. uuuggghhh.... After the manager, whom they requested to speak to, had confirmed the obvious-that no, their friends who were not 21 could not stay, they continued to accuse Lisa of racism. Enough said. I swear, wing night is making me intolerant and hateful.

Busy, Busy Weekend
Oh my gosh, yesterday was so insane! After leaving work at almost 2 am on Saturday (mind you, this is AFTER the clocks went back so it would have been almost 3 am), Lisa and I had to be back at 10 am. I was in the pub yesterday and thankfully because we were having a Belgian fest thing going on, it was non-stop busy from the moment I walked in until the my last table cashed out at almost 6. I was so exhausted that I could not even bring myself to stay at the bar with everyone for more than an hour. I went to the grocery store with the munchies (always fun!), cleaned the apartment a little, finished a book and finally slept for a good, long time. I was so tired that I fell asleep at 9:30 which is very unusual for me. Tonight, it is back to work at 4!

Bad Energy
I must take this time to say how obnoxious and unpleasant it is to work with someone who you do not get along with. Unfortunately, it had to work out last night that the waitress and bartender who are at odds with one another at the moment just had to be working on the same sides. It was annoying to have to communicate throughout the evening with someone who is mad at you, yet it was also quite comical to observe his usual behavior of slamming down drinks and throwing tickets. When someone is aggravated, it is always funny to me to see them slamming things as if they were a child, but yet they are a grown man. He finally began to calmly place down drinks after the bud light literally made a fountain as he slammed it down. Thank god he gave away his shift tonight because I have enough stress in my life as it is to have to go into work and be around bad vibes.
