Stupid, Stupid People

OK, so I am pretty sure I argued with at least three customers the other night about their I.D's and their ages. One, people need to understand that just because you are drinking a Coke, does not mean you can be in the pub! We do not care if you are not drinking, you can not be nineteen and having a soda in the bar area. So please, when I ask you for your I.D., do not bug out your eyes at me and repeat what you ordered. I know you ordered soda, but that is not why I am asking for your I.D. Two, please, please begin to understand that we only will take certain forms of I.D. I am not accepting your student I.D., nor your Spain drivers license. And dont get mad at me and give me attitude. Do you think that I, personally, came up with these policies? NO. For your information, they are the restaurants policies and I am not getting fired because you want to have a beer. Get it through your head that I do not care if you have come here before, or if another waitress served you (good for her, she's risking her job) and furthermore, do you think it does you any good to TELL me your twenty-one, or let me know that other establishments have taken your I.D.? Well good for them, and good for you, for knowing how old you are.

Quotes of the Night

Customer: "Just so you know, that girl that your waiting on over there, she's famous .                                        Lisa: "For what?"
Customer: "Field hockey!"
Graz: "Nobody who plays field hockey will ever be famous"....graz walks away straight faced.

Me: remember when we all had beepers?
Keith: yeah, I had one
Lisa: I had one...back in my hooker days

Lately

This week has been rough. I am really starting to feel the back-to-school combined with full time waitressing now. I have been making sure that I have been getting at least seven hours of sleep at night, but this job is so physically taxing that despite what I think is enough sleep, I am drained. A bunch of us want to start massage therapy. I think it will really help my back which starts to ache and knot up after a long shift. I have also been trying my best to wear my sneakers or Dansko clogs instead of my ballet flats...thank you, yes, I am proud of myself too for starting to care about how my feet feel and not how they look! On another note, business has been getting better. Summer is always unpredictable and you never know how busy you'll be, it's so random. But, the night shifts have been crazy, so that's always good.

I'm working with Lisa tonight in the pub!! I hope the band is a good one too because that always makes working more enjoyable. We will probably be done around 2:30 am and we are both scheduled for 11 am so I think I am just going to sleep over her house.

Last night was fun. However, it was very slow all night and then all of a sudden everyone wanted to sit so we were all there until well after 1 am. Any funny customers? eh, not really. Except, now that I think of it, this one lady was drinking a vodka soda and once she had finished more than half, ordered a glass of wine because she told me her drink was too watery. Um, yes, because the ice had melted now. People these days. It reminds me of the time this lady was eating nachos on the patio and when everyone at her table was done eating and I was taking plates away, she told me her nachos were soggy. I told her that she was probably right, considering there was chili on them and that after a while, it will make it quite soggy, but she didn't get it. I just went inside and giggled. After all, what would we all laugh about if we didn't have such customers?

Last Night

So last night, I did not have Lisa by my side because her sister was in town :( I also was not on for closing for the first time in a couple weeks, so I had four tables instead of seven. Of course I wanted more, but it is what it is, and I had more time to help other people, give my tables more attention and not be stressed. Plus I made over 20%! (I had really sweet tables last night). Of course LM spent the beginning of her shift flirting with the bus boy so, no, we did not set her tables for her. I mean hey, if your going to stand around and not collectively help put out plates and paper towels on top of failing to help set up the service station area, then I ain't going to feel sorry for you when your food goes out and you look stupid because you didn't even realize your table has nothing to eat with. Oh wait, that's not all. When she's cut, she proceeds to do bread and butter, the easiest side- work there is-no, it's OK love, I'll do soup and salad even though I may be here until last call, thank you for watching out for me though...

We ran out of wings by like nine though!! That made me ecstatic! Not many stupid people either, except for that one table that kept trying to argue with me that the birthdate WAS on her national student I.D. (when will they freakin understand that student I.D.'s are not acceptable forms of I.D. for gods sake?)

This one lady had a couple chocolate martini's which made me really want one....so I did have that to end my night which was perfect. And, suprisingly, I went home instead of staying out to drink which is so much better for me in so many ways. I got more sleep and I saved money-not that it matters because I think I am going to soul night with crazy ass Jesse later on, but still. I am trying my best to cut back on my food and alcohol expenses-$170 last week was a little ridiculous.

Next time I work is Thursday and I am hoping my regulars come in because apparently they were all de-doxing last week by the way the pub looked all night.

Wing Night

Well, tonight is Wing Night :( I am going to be working with the most amazing people I have ever met, but the new students need to get their act together. Last week, I worked Wing Night for the first time since spring and I didn't see many of my regulars. There were a lot of unfamiliar costumers, many who were not adjusted to the rules and faught with me about not having I.D's. But other than that, Mondays nights are a crazy halarious mess!

On another note, I have to check out the Thirsty Scholar...someone asked me if I was interested in working there but I have never been in the place, kind of surprising considering the fat ass that am! I love my job and the people I work with but I was told I have an attitude problem and it's time for me to go so it's tough working under someone who doesn't particularly like you or respect and value your work ethic. For now though, I am going to just keep my mouth shut around that particular manager and work my ass off...
